What Makes Desktop Calendar So Unique?

1. Provides a desktop-resident calendar coupled with an efficient event reminder system.

A functional calendar that, unlike most competitive offerings, resides permanently on the user's desktop, accessible with a single mouse click. It includes an integrated Event Recording System with programmable reminders and the ability to create desktop "Notes" or "To Do Lists". The calendar can be floated, moved and docked anywhere on the desktop. Event Reminders can be programmed to be either 'pop up' screen messages, audible alerts or email messages.

2. Displays installed "Entertainment Packs" of appealing images.

Desktop Calendar is specifically designed to display an unlimited number of 'Image Albums' (each Album comprising any number of individual images). Image Albums are folders comprising a thematic set of images stored either on a PC's own local or network hard drive or accessible to Desktop Calendar users from nominated, remote web sites. Individual images can be displayed as either embedded images on a PC's desktop, or as a wall calendar looking combination of both images and calendar, within a re-sizable, floating PC window.

3. Displays a web page linked corporate message/logo on the users PC Desktop.

When created for distribution as Corporate Calendars or "Information Pack Readers", Desktop Calendars can permanently display a small, non-intrusive corporate logo or message on PC desktops. Such messages or logos can be directly linked to the corporate client's web site. Additionally any/all images/announcements/brochures/catalogs/events can be likewise directly linked to relevant web sites.

4. Automatically downloads and displays "Information Packs" of electronic brochures

Web pages are now a part of everyday life and offer a very effective method of imparting information though they do have a number of serious limitations:

They are "re-active", relying entirely on information seekers 'visiting' the site.

To visit a site, information seekers must first know of its existance and have its correct web address.

It is becoming increasingly difficult for information seekers to identify meaningful information sources from cluttered search results.

Similarly, it is becoming increasingly difficult for information providers to get their web sites listed with key Search Engines and if listed, to appear near the top of Search Lists.

Information seekers must be or go online each and every time they want to access web page information.

To the majority of information seekers, web sites and their web pages are slow to access and display.

Many countries (e.g. U.K.) have timed local calls which can make the use of online web pages as primary sources of frequently referred to information, quite expensive.

In comparison, Desktop Calendar is pro-active, providing information seekers with unfetted access to, and display of, all pertinent information. Each time Desktop Calendar users go online, Desktop Calendar interrogates the web site of their Desktop Calendar provider for any new or updated Entertainment or Information Packs. Any such Packs are automatically SENT (via HTML) and seamlessly inserted into the display lists of users' calendars. Any number of new Image Albums or updated announcements, brochures, catalogs or multi-paged price lists can therefore be produced and distributed, free of any print or delivery costs, for instant access and repeated referral by all Desktop Calendar users.

SUMMARY OF KEY FEATURES

Ability to acquire single images, compiled albums of images or Information Packs from a variety of sources:
        i) A local hard drive file structure
        ii) A remote hard drive structure (i.e. on a LAN or WAN)
        iii) A Web server

Calendar can be programed to accept any image/image album from any online source or only designated images/image albums from designated online sources.

The display size of the calendar is User selectable/scaleable.

The calendar stays readily accessable on the Desktop in miniature "iconised" format.

Designed to display a number of consecutive monthly calendars (from none to 12).

The User can position the calendar to one of 9 pre-set screen positions or manually move and dock it anywhere on the Desktop.

A simple click and hold on the calendar on the desktop causes it to "pop up" and become an active component.

An active calendar can be scrolled backwards/ forwards through the months.

Cursor movement over the calendar is tracked, and pops up information about events installed into the dates "touched" by the cursor.

Clicking on a date opens a dialog box for adding/removing events for that day.

Whole schedules of new or amended calendar events can be downloaded from a remote online source, and inserted into the calendar in a single step.

Event reminders can be made to repeat with a variety of periodicities.

Calendar events can have attached reminders.

Calendar events can have priority values attached to them.

Reminders can be initiated as either popup screen messages, audible warnings or email messages to a User configured recipient list.

Images and electronic brochures can be presented in a variety of sizes.

The calendar's display colours and fonts can be selected by the User.

Image titles may be displayed in two selected styles: "prominent" or "discrete".

Image titles, texts, electronic brochures and the entire User interface can be displayed in any installed foreign language.

Programmable to display a small brand advertisement or logo on screen.

Clicking on a displayed logo, any image or electronic brochure can link directly to the advertising company's web site.

User selectable display changing frequency - from every 5 seconds to once per month.

Displays time remaining before next image change.

Programmable connection to multiple online sources at one time allowing images/brochures to be taken from a variety of sources.

Both Images and brochures can be displayed as the Desktop's "wallpaper" or in the resizable popup calendar window.

User can step forwards or backwards through any image/brochure display.

User can select sequential or random image display.

User can "force" images to display by double-clicking any image title in the image list.

Calendar conveniently displays installed images/albums as a "tree", with images broken down by source/category.

System Tray icon hint that displays current date and time.

Outcome from clicking on system tray icon is User configurable (popup options, popup calendar, change to next image etc...

Displays JPEG, GIF and BMP images.

Auto Background colour - software automatically picks a background colour that is visually compatible with each displaying image.

Immediate Screen blanking function.

Rapid Image Cycling function - changes images continuously until disabled.

Calendar can be authored with unlimited licence duration or any period of months from one to 256 months.

Display of licence period remaining.
